The organiser of the 50-50 So Every Thing Is 50-50 event, open to the public, is Kitipong Ngowsiri – better known as ‘Pui’ – who lives in the multi-coloured, dream-like house made from reclaimed wood that is almost a symbol of the Village.

Explaining to The Phuket News the choice of event name, Pui says it’s simple – life is always a 50-50 choice.

“Whenever you look at something you can never really know the whole story or 100 per cent of something. It’s like a coin, you can only see half of the truth.”

Pui decided to put on the event through a desire to bring together artists from different backgrounds.

“I know a lot of artists from around Southeast Asia,” says Pui, “I wanted to help my Filipino artist friends showcase their work here [in Phuket]”.

As well as artists from the Philippines, there will also be representatives from Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia, and South Korea, as well as many Thai artists in attendance.

Aspiring local artists are also invited to bring along materials and equipment and get involved.

Artist registration is at 8.30am on Saturday, June 8. Then at 9am, artists will sit down together to share “their artistic vision” in preparation for the beginning of the workshop at 10.30am.

The workshop will be finished by around 5pm, after which the Village will come alive with puppet shadow shows, live music and plenty of delicious food – families welcome.

An exhibition showcasing the work created on the day will be available to see until July 31.

The Phuket Art Village is located in Nai Harn. Heading towards the lake, it’s the first right after Da Vinci restaurant. For more information, visit facebook.com/phuket.artvillage
