Arab woman dies after flight she was on makes emergency landing at Phuket airport

PHUKET: An Etihad Airway̕s flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Phuket International Airport last night (May 5) after a 66-year-old passenger passed out. She later died at Thalang Hospital.

At 11:30pm, Chat Chai investigator Lt Col Santi Prakobkarn received a call from Thalang Hospital who stated that a 66-year- old woman from the United Arab Emirates had died of a heart attack. The woman was later named a Suhaila Obaid Amer Alaleeli.

Police said that Mrs Suhaila was on board Emirates flight EY470 travelling from Abu Dhabi to Singapore.

During the flight Mrs Suhaila went passed out and the captain of the plane requested to make an emergency landing at Phuket International Airport at around 9:45pm.

As soon as the plane had landed an ambulance was waiting and immediately took Mrs Suhaila to Thalang Hospital.

Police have contacted UAE embassy who have notified the family of the death.
