German-born Mr Hemmann moved to Phuket from his previous position as General Manager of Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villa Resort & Spa in the Gulf of Thailand.
A graduate of Berlin’s College of Tourism & Hotel Management, he has enjoyed a successful career in hotels across the world and brings more than 20 years’ experience to his new position.
Mr Hemmann joined Anantara following five years with Capella Hotel Group, holding Hotel Manager and General Manager positions in Singapore and China and most recently at their property in Virginia Beach in the United States.
He began his hospitality career in Germany then worked with a number of luxury hotel brands including Raffles, One&Only, Dusit Thani and Fairmont, with his career taking him to the Maldives, Dubai, Royal Brunei and the Caribbean.
Anantara Layan offers nine different room types across 77 luxurious suites and villas. The resort is being complemented by The Residences by Anantara, an exclusive development of 15 luxury pool residences due for completion in mid-2016 on the west-facing hillside overlooking the secluded Anantara Layan Phuket Resort, which nestles on a private bay surrounded by National Park forest.
At Anantara Layan, Mr Hemmann is focused on developing the secluded resort’s reputation in Phuket as a venue of picturesque serenity and fine dining.
