According to his mother, “Non is a quiet person, but is different when he is with his friends. Then he is a naughty and funny boy.” However, she says her son has always been a star.
“When he was a little boy he starred in the ‘Tii Sip’ TV programme, so he’s never been shy on stage. He also likes to create handmade things and draw pictures, and he was a good runner in school, in fact this is how he cracked his hip bone.”
Currently busy studying for next month’s Mattayom 4 final exams, The Phuket News met with the quietly spoken, rather shy superstar last month to find out how life has changed for him since becoming a nationally recognised celebrity.
1. How do you feel when you sing?
I feel good whenever I sing a song, because I do not sing for myself but I sing for others. So, if an audience comes to watch me they will get to see me happy.
2. What do you think about becoming an idol?
I feel very good and happy because I am just 16 years old and I have become others’ idol. But please, only take my good side. Do not take the bad side.
I think everyone should have their own identity and appearance. Because you can not copy other people’s identity. You can still add others’ good sides and still be yourself.
For example, If I like some other artist, I will learn from their good side and their work. I try to not judge them as people, I just try to see their work.
3. What’s your attitude to studying?
My friends helped me along the way when I was competing in the Voice competition. I want to study with my friends until I finish high school and then move to Bangkok after that.
4. Are you more aware of how you act in public now?
Yes, many people have warned and advised me. I have to check myself everyday because humans change everyday. I am aware that I need have to develop myself.
5. Are you approached by more girls now you’re famous?
Sometimes some girls like me but I do not want [their attention], because I want to take care of my parents. My parents told me not to forget who I am. I do not think I can take care of others, because I cannot take care of myself.
6. You’ve suffered health problems in the past, how are you now?
Yes, I have had problems with my bones since I was young – they are not very strong. In my life I have had many injuries, including three broken bones in my left arm, a cracked hip bone and a fractured spine. I can not play hard and extreme sports. I have always wanted to skateboard but I can only watch.
7. Are you afraid that your teenage years will soon be behind you?
One day, my teen lifestyle will have disappeared. My parents are getting old. I would like to make myself, my family and others happy. I am not worried if I have to grow up.
8. Is there anything else that you want to say to your fans?
Age is not important. I feel like if I do not do something today, I might regret it over the next 10 years.
I know that I need to grow up and accept my responsibilities, both in school and in my career. I have to set my life to have ‘good procedures’. I am lucky, I have good friends that help and encourage me.
