A or O negative blood urgently needed for man at Vachira Hospital Phuket

PHUKET: Vachira Phuket Hospital requires donations of A-negative or O-negative blood to save the life of a 35-year-old Canadian motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a collision with a 10-wheel truck in Phuket yesterday (May 5).

Ampai Saengwichitr, a medical technician at Vachira Phuket Hospital told The Phuket News today (May 6), “Mr David Lee (Connelly) was admitted to Vachira Phuket Hospital early yesterday morning with serious injuries to his chest, back, and legs. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit and is in urgent need of blood donations.

“We gave Mr Lee (Connelly) four units of blood yesterday but we need more as we need to perform further surgery. Anyone wishing to donate blood can do so at the blood bank on the fourth floor of Vachira Phuket Hospital,” she said. 

Donations can be made at Vachira Phuket Hospital Monday-Friday, 8:30am-8pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8:30am-3pm. However, it should be noted that any person intent on donating blood must ensure they are fit and have food in their system before doing so.
