Pol Lt Gen Thanitsak Theerasawat, commissioner of the Provincial Police Region 5, said yesterday (July 9) that Somchai Thesthim, 28, and Mongkhol Chamto, 26, were arrested with the narcotics at Big C Extra store in Nong Pa Khrang sub-district of Muang Chiang Mai.

The suspects arrived in a van and a sedan registered in Bangkok. The arrest resulted from recent intelligence that illicit drugs would be delivered there.

Daily News reported that Mr Mongkhol of Samut Sakhon province was delivering the drug to Mr Somchai, a native of Chon Buri, who would then forward the drugs to vendors throughout Chiang Mai.

Mr Mongkhol was quoted as saying he was hired for a million baht to make the delivery.
