Pol Lt Col Sanay Ukoat of Phang Nga Police said that at about 10:30am, the driver of the An Xin Tours minibus, Sanya Ananphet 36 from Krabi, lost control on a wet section of Phetkasem Rd in Tak Dad.
The bus slid off the road, hit a concrete pole at the side of the road and crashed onto its side.
Rescuers arrived to a scene of havoc, with all 13 people on the bus – 10 tourists, a Chinese tour company rep, the driver and his assistant – all being injured. One of the passengers was trapped under the bus.
All were taken at first to Phang Nga Hospital but five severely injured victims were later transferred to Vachira Hospital for treatment.
Another five victims remain at Phang Nga Hospital while the remaining three have been discharged.
