Six of them were hurt in accidents that involved no other vehicles or obstacles, the oldest being Wiroj Hemmara, 72, and the youngest being Amporn Songsap, 15, who fell from her bike in Kata.
The five also included a 53-year-old foreigner, Paul Friesen, who crashed his bike in Thalang, Supattra Kumdech, 63, Penpit Na Patthalung, 50, who fell while at speed at the Koh Sirae intersection, and Chanantida Patdam, 21.
A 19 year-old, Muangkan Sriracha, crashed into a car. He and his 13-year-old passenger, Somporn Pattatum, were both injured.
One man who crashed into a garbage truck after a night of drinking could not be immediately identified as he was unconscious and carried no ID.
Rujira Damphrat, 55, crashed into a wall in Baan Pon, while Pataraporn Antapan, 32, crashed his bike into a power pole. He was found to be drunk and was driving at high speed with no helmet.
Mr. Manot Patkon, 50, clipped a pick-up truck while trying to overtake.
