Attending the meeting this morning at the Phuket Provincial Hall were representatives from the Phuket Damrongtham (the provincial Omsbudman), as well as the provincial industrial and pollution control offices.
The meeting was told that multiple complaints had been made with various government departments since 2004, alleging that SP Auto Color, which is located in the Moo 9 village of Wichit, has been a regular neighborhood nuisance, contributing much noise and air pollution, but yet no action has ever been taken.
The meeting determined that SP Auto Color had the appropriate Class 3 Factory License, but did not have a permit to handle toxic chemicals, presumably paint.
The meeting concluded with a mandate designating competent officials to set up pollution metering devices in the area of the complainers’ premises to formally determine if the pollution levels are within allowed limits.
