At 6pm, Kusoldharm rescue workers were called to the car park of the Merlin Hotel on Yaowarat Rd in Talad Yai after police received a call from the young boy’s father saying that the boy was trapped inside his BMW.
When rescue workers arrived a large group of residents were gathered around the Bangkok registered BMW. The boy’s mother was crying and her husband was trying to keep the baby’s attention.
The car’s remote and key were also inside the car rescue workers were told.
The parents of the boy said that they had come to the hotel for a party. They had parked the vehicle and turned off the engine. They then got out of the car and shut the doors not realising the car would lock automatically.
Rescue workers first attempted to unlock the vehicle using a small piece of metal but failed. They then had to shatter a window to gain entry to the car. A female rescue worker climbed in to unlock the car to cheers and applause of the gathered crowd.
