The entrants include young athletes from Malaysia, the Philippines, Hong Kong and mainland China, and a strong contingent from Phuket.

“We will be seeing some really promising swimmers here at the Aquatics Academy, including 13 year old Francesca Ho Ching-leung from Hong Kong, who is a very exciting up and coming swimmer,” said Thanyapura‘s Director of Aquatics Simon Jones.

“Also heading up the field in every event with some potentially very fast swimming is 19 year old Filipino talent Daniel Gian Berino.”

Among the teams taking part will be the Thanyapura Aquatics Academy’s own junior swim team Silverfinz, as well as TSLC’s Team Extreme project – six aspiring young athletes from schools in Banbangtao and Thalang who receive swim lessons several times a week to help them achieve their sporting goals.

The latest event at Thanyapura has attracted some of the biggest sports names in the Asia-Pacific region, including the former coach of the Australian Swim Team John Dempsey, who will attend as the coach of the Hong Kong-based Ladies Recreational Club.

Presenting the awards will be world-renowned coach Roly Crichton from England, now based in New Zealand, who now works with many international triathletes and top swimmers including Olympic triathletes Andrea Hewitt, Laurant Vidal, Tony Moulai and Kris Gemmel.
