The arrest was announced yesterday (June 8) by Patong Police and Kathu District officials as part of ongoing efforts to suppress narcotics trafficking in Phuket.
The suspect, identified only as ’Ms Kim’, 43, was apprehended at a room in Soi Manee Thong 1, near Ratchapatanusorn Rd and about 200 metres from the Patong Municipality offices, after officers arranged the purchase of methamphetamine, police said.
Seized during the arrest were 5.19g of crystal meth, a digital scale and a Redmi Note 10 mobile phone. A drug test conducted at Patong Hospital later returned positive for methamphetamine use, according to police.
Ms Kim has been charged with selling a Category 1 narcotic, possessing a Category 1 narcotic with intent to sell and illegal consumption of methamphetamine. She was handed over to investigators at Patong Police Station for further legal action.
The arrest follows another recent drug bust in Phuket Town, where Mueang District officials arrested a 44-year-old woman last week with 26.7g of crystal meth and 19 methamphetamine pills (ya bah). The suspect was detained on Poonphol Rd before officers expanded the investigation with a search of her residence on Montri Rd.
She was subsequently handed over to investigators at Phuket City Police Station and charged with selling and possessing for sale Category 1 narcotics, including methamphetamine pills and crystal methamphetamine, as well as illegal consumption of methamphetamine.
Authorities said the arrests form part of an ongoing province-wide crackdown on narcotics offences.
