The hunt follows the arrest of the wife of a man named only as Kosol, who is believed to be one of the two criminals.
She was nabbed in Bangkok last night as she got off a bus and was found to be in possession of 1,029 grammes of gold jewellery, worth about B1.8 million – roughly half of what was stolen in the robbery.
The two robbers escaped with about two kilos of gold during the robbery. They wore wigs to help disguise their identity during the robbery, but were caught wigless on CCTV as they drove away from the scene, grinning broadly.
Speaking to the arrested woman, Phuket Police Chief Pol Maj Gen Chonasit Wattanavrangkul learned that Kosol lives in Phuket and was believed to be in the area around the Kathu Waterfall.
