Kusoldhram rescue workers responded to a call from a local resident at 1am where it was reported a baby girl was found inside a bin near the Patong Municipality Office on Ratpatanusorn Rd.

After notifying Patong Police, rescue workers arrived at the scene to find a smiling baby girl wrapped in a white towel lying in a bin. One of the rescue workers said the baby girl weighed around three kilograms, had dark hair and looked healthy. The baby was taken to Patong Hospital where a health examination was to be carried out.

The rescue worker said, “The baby was discovered by a man collecting empty bottles from bins near Patong Municipality. When he went to check one of the bins he saw a smiling baby inside.

“We think that the mum must have given birth in one of the island’s hospitals. She may have decided to abandon the child because she had no income to support a baby. Police are looking for the parents so they can be brought in for questioning,” he said.

Ed ...yep just reconfirms my estimation of you and no I am not wrong. Of course she didn't make a rational decision, any fool can see that. (well to right/rational thinking people anyway). What gives you right to call her stupid or demean her in any way when you don't even know her circumstances?

The mental element in any offences she may have committed are crucial which is not covered...

Remote chance but possible.
Mother was killed by kidnapper. Mother's body yet to be discovered.
kidnapper had second thoughts.

Ok Christy Sweet, not all women, you are right. But my wife did. :-)
And yes, she had a choice not to leave here baby at all in any way.
There are institutions she and family could have turned too.

De factor 'family' is here still not in sight.
What about a family who knows daughter/sister/girlfriend/etc., is pregnant 9 months and did give birth?

She also could have left the baby...

Christy Sweet | 19 September 2016 - 17:15:38

Ed, I'm not so sure she has choices. I believe it is a criminal charge to just leave a baby- anywhere. So she chose a method she had a chance of getting away with.

Kurt, women do not go from fat to slim overnight after birth. Plenty of women have had enough extra weight their pregnancies were never noticed.
As for the "mother instinct," women are just as capable as not giving...

Get real Joey "the savior to all". I do not have compassion for stupid people that make bad decisions. This monster of a girl did not make a rational decision...far from it. She could have left the child in any of a number of places...including a temple...but she chose the trash. The heartlessness and inhumanity of such an act is over the top. And you are wrong, I have lots of compas...

Well, no woman can give birth unknown by her surrounding.
And having a baby 2 weeks with you before dumping, and than being alone again?
Other people must know about this.

In this civilized country there are ways to handle such desperate situation. ( social institutions)
The 'last' you do is dumping a baby in a garbage container.
The person who did that ( man or woman) is mentally ...

Joe12 | 19 September 2016 - 13:43:12

Ed...given the level of your vitriolic attacks towards the unfortunate, and lack of respect for the dead and those in mourning, you clearly have no empathy or regard towards your fellow human beings. You don't even know the woman or her circumstances which drove her to obvious depths of despair. Wake up to yourself...

I am still 'full' of this in Phuket bin found 2 weeks old smiling baby. Shocking.
We are foreigners, and to old to raise more kids, we had our share of own kids as well adopted kids, otherwise we would adopt her and provide her a fine growing up and good future.
We hope younger couples come forward and adopt her.

Ed Sanders | 18 September 2016 - 18:54:00

This is what happens when children are having children. I could easily be wrong, but I'll guess this was just a selfish irresponsible teenager that got knocked up from some other punk-ass irresponsible teenager, neither one of which gave any consideration to the awesome task of actually raising a child. This could be the best thing that could have happened to this precious little baby, for n...

Hooray for the man collecting empty bottles. Hooray !!.
The Sweet little baby was rescued by this hero.

Joe12 | 17 September 2016 - 20:20:02

Kurt...for goodness sake, read and inwardly digest the comments of both Bjay and slippery snake.

Kurt | 17 September 2016 - 14:27:49

Well, slippery snake,... whatever the facilities are in civilized countries, to dump a baby in a bin?
It is lower than lower.
When given birth in a hospital they will find the parents soon. Sure.
But hospitals have social workers too, right?
If given birth in a Phuket hospital as a single mother, the social workers could have paid a bit attention to her circumstances and looked a bit more in ...

Bjay | 17 September 2016 - 14:24:41

The poor mother must have been desperate to leave such a beautiful baby in a 'Bin'? Thank God she was discovered in time!

slippery snake | 17 September 2016 - 13:24:14

So sad this happens here, In New Zealand a girl would get a free home, money and much more for having a baby, In fact many girls want to have a baby, to get an easy life.... such a cute baby, the poor mother must be devastated to have to give her away..
