Australian Chris McCormack has won more Ironman competitions than any other male competitor.

McCormack is a two-time Ironman World Champion and has won a total of 12 Ironman competitions since 1993 – more than any other male competitor. He has also won the International Triathlete of the Year title five times, and was once voted the “World’s Fittest Man” by ESPN.

This will be the 39-year-old’s first appearance at the Laguna Phuket events, where he will compete against defending three-time champion Massimo Cigano and American Ironman Chris Lieto.

“I’ve heard so much about Laguna Phuket over the years but have never managed to make it there – I’m really looking forward to finally get there and race in this iconic triathlon location,” McCormack said in a release.

“Macca is the one “legend” who has yet to race in LPT – dubbed the “Race of Legends” – so we’re absolutely thrilled that he’ll be here for the first time to compete in both our events,” said Debbie Dionysius, Assistant Vice President of Destination Marketing, Laguna Phuket.
