Siripong Leeprasit, a senior official from Thalang District Office led his team and civil defence volunteers to arrest Ms Wasinee Isolbusor, 24, and Ms Jutharat Jitnaree, 18, at Wasinee’s home next to a klong in Soi Mak Prok Anusorn in Moo 1 Mai Khao.
The two were found to be in possession of 1.25 litres of kratom juice, one unregistered .38 mm Smith & Wesson pistol, 15 .38mm bullets, 41 .45mm bullets, 857 bundle of fresh kratom leaves weighing a total of 43.3 kilos, 62 bottles of cough syrup and other items.
Mr Siripong explained: “The arrests came after we received a tip-off from undercover officers that the suspects were selling drugs to teenagers from a hut next to the klong in the soi next to the Mak Prok branch of 7Eleven. We were told that the suspects stocked a lot of fresh kratom leaves at the hut.
“When we arrived at the hut we saw four teenagers in the area pouring kratom juice into a container, but they ran off when they saw us. Officers chased them but they got away,” he said.
“We searched for them in the area including at the suspect’s house. Both Jutharat and Wasinee were at home and acted suspiciously when they saw us so we told them who we were and asked to search her home.
“We found warm kratom juice left in a pan in the kitchen. We also discovered a guns and bullets in the room. Also, inside some locked freeze boxes we found nine bags of fresh kratom leaves and 62 bottles of cough syrup,” he added.
Wasinee and Jutharat were taken to Tha Chatchai Police Station where they were to be charged with avoiding arrest, producing a Category 5 drug( kratom), possession of Category 5 drug with intent to sell, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition and selling modern medicine illegally.
