The fire was reported at about 4pm at a house in Soi 5 of Chao Fah Garden Home Village, according to the Phuket Provincial Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office (DDPM Phuket).

Firefighters from the Koh Kaew Municipality Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Unit responded with two fire trucks, two ambulances and 10 personnel, supported by officers from other relevant agencies.

Emergency crews arrived to find flames spreading inside the house. The fire was successfully contained and extinguished by 4:15pm, officials confirmed.

Two people sustained burn injuries in the incident.

The injured were identified as Wisarut Khamchue, 38, who was taken to Mission Hospital Phuket, and Saowanee Maliwan, 70, who was taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital for treatment.

According to a report filed by Phuket City Police, initial investigations found that Ms Saowanee, a resident of the house, called for help after discovering flames inside the property.

Mr Wisarut entered the house to assist her, but a loud explosion, believed to have been caused by cooking gas, was then heard and the fire rapidly intensified.

Firefighters were subsequently alerted and rushed to the scene to battle the blaze.

Police have yet to confirm the exact cause of the fire, and the extent of the property damage remains under assessment.

Investigators from Phuket City Police Station examined the scene and have coordinated with forensic officers to determine the cause of the fire.

The investigation is continuing.
