The three channels are Thai Public Broadcasting Service (ThaiPBS – Channel 1), the army-owned Channel 5 and state-owned Modernine TV (Channel 9).
Sura Gaintanasilp, executive VP of MCOT, which owns Channel 9, said the cooperation will speed up the switch to digital and save TV station operators on investments on construction of network infrastructure.
TOT also signed an MoU with state-owned CAT Telecom to share a roaming network to provide telecommunications service to users throughout the country.
Yongyuth Watanasin, CEO of TOT, said the collaboration with CAT will speed up the two agencies’ expansion of 3G roaming service to people nationwide through CAT Telecom’s existing 10,000 base stations nationwide and TOT’s 5,000 base stations.
