This is the second presentation in the Outta the Box Classics series, and is a fitting offering of two Shakespeareinspired plays this year, exactly 400 years after William Shakespeare passed Re enacting Romeo & Juliet with a local spinaway. His stories and characters remain as relevant today as when they were first written and his words some of the most beautiful ever written in the English language.

Romeo and Juliethas something for everybody: a story of passionate love leading two lovers from feuding families down the path to ultimate tragedy, a tale of reconciliation and the righting of wrongs, action, colourful characters, and even moments of comedy.

The show will be an abridged version of the play with some adaptations for clarity, with a cast made up of teens and adults from different walks of life from students to volunteer police. They all have one thing in common, a love of theatre and performance and the desire to see more of it performed in Phuket.

The cast members are doing a wonderful job at very challenging roles and getting to know the Bard and his work in the most intimate, organic way: by experiencing first-hand the beauty, depth and grandeur of the writings of a master. I invite you to experience the same by attending this production and finding out just how accessible and enjoyable Shakespeare really is.

Theatrix is very thankful for those businesses, individuals. institutions and organisations that have lent their encouragement, support and sponsorship to our efforts. HeadStart has been our enthusiastic partner and home base while The Phuket Newsand Live 89.5 have been a tremendous help in publicising all our events. Two Chefs, the Green Man Pub and Restaurant, and Oasis Ed, have helped immensely in making this possible and look forward to more sponsors hopping on the bandwagon in the future.
