Thalang District Chief Mr Wira Kerdsirimongkol ordered his main Admin Clerk (Palad) Mr Siripong Leeprasit, as head of the district’s “Stability Department”, along with five volunteers to hit the streets.

Their first task was to police the rowdy Songkran fun at Nai Yang beach, where they warned a total of 95 persons who were using chalk or colours as part of the celebrations.

Next, the officials reported to the “Thalang 89” subsidized government housing projects, to stake out a suspected thief.

They found the suspect, Mr Songphon Duangkae, 22, hiding out on one of the project’s rooftops.

The suspect, who was apparently wanted in multiple cases of theft throughout Thalang, was arrested with various stolen items, including B200 and a tablet.
