The National Olympic Committee of Thailand (NOCT) and the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) held a coordination meeting on Thursday (Apr 16) to review progress on Bangkok’s bid and prepare for the upcoming visit of the IOC Youth Olympic Games Working Group, reports the Bangkok Post.

The delegation is scheduled to visit Thailand from Apr 27–30 as part of the IOC’s Targeted Dialogue process, which will announce the selection of the host city in June.

The meeting, led by NOCT president Pimol Srivikorn and IOC member Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, along with SAT governor Gongsak Yodmani, focused on key elements of the bid, including venue planning, infrastructure readiness, transportation systems and governance.

Officials said Bangkok would serve as the main host city, with two principal competition clusters planned at the SAT Hua Mark Sports Complex and Chulalongkorn University. Coastal and outdoor events would be staged in Chonburi.

Thailand is promoting its bid under the theme “Inspiring Youth, Connecting Southeast Asia and Asia”, aiming to integrate sport with education, culture and urban life to create what organisers describe as an accessible and meaningful experience for young athletes.

All agencies involved reaffirmed their commitment to delivering what they called a credible and sustainable bid.

Pimol said the meeting demonstrated strong alignment among stakeholders.

“This meeting confirms that all stakeholders are fully aligned to deliver a strong and credible bid for Bangkok 2030. We are committed to presenting to the IOC a compelling vision capable of hosting outstanding Youth Olympic Games,” he said.

Khunying Patama said Thailand was fully mobilised to deliver an inspiring event.

“Thailand is fully mobilised to prepare a Youth Olympic Games that will inspire young people from around the world. Our ambition is to deliver a meaningful and memorable experience, fully aligned with the values of the Olympic Movement,” she said.

The host city for the 2030 Youth Olympic Games will be selected at the IOC Session in June.
