Capt Somkiet Hwantae of the Chalong Police was informed of an accident on Kata hill at 7:50am today (Jan 26) where it was reported that a bus had crashed into a concrete barrier on a bend on Patak Rd (Kata hill).

Police arrived at the scene to find a Bangkok registered tour bus leaning on its side against a concrete road barrier.

Capt Somkiet said, “There were 16 Indian tourists on the bus and they had to be rescued by Phuket Ruamjai Kupai rescue workers.

“None of the passengers were seriously injured, however, they were all taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital as a precaution,” he said.

“A forklift truck had to be brought to the scene to put the bus upright and officials from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office from Chalong scattered sand over the road to cover the spilled oil.”

According to Capt Somkiet, the driver of the bus, 33-year-old Mr Jiroj Noochaikaew, said that he was driving the tourists from a hotel in Patong and was heading to Phuket Town when the brakes failed .

“I could not brake to reduce my speed so I crashed into the concrete barrier instead,” Jiroj said.

“We have to investigate more to see if any charges will be pressed,” added Capt Somkiet.

Another 'well said Timothy' from me.
I don't mind anyone disagreeing with my opinions or correcting me factually if appropriate but I do object to being called an idiot especially when I am correct. I also object to other posters being called idiots, fools, clueless etc. for merely expressing an opinion and that includes an opinion I do not agree with.
As I posted elsewhere today ...

swerv | 30 January 2017 - 16:09:32

Timothy: You are making a lot of assumptions against someone you don't know. I don't own any condo's, not my market. I own pool villas.
Also, i don't frequent bars or entertain ladies of the night, not my scene and never has been.

malczx7r | 30 January 2017 - 15:45:33

Timothy, well said!

Kurt | 30 January 2017 - 15:12:59

@ Timothy: Wow, I wish I would be able to write it so fine and sharp as you did today.
Indeed, I have also thai friends who studied many years overseas, got foreign ( real!) degrees.
They came back in Thailand, where not able anymore to adjust to 'things' here, and left again to New Zealand, Australia, and Europe.

One of their points was the fake thai professors/lecturers with their ...

Pauly44 | 30 January 2017 - 15:11:14

Bang on Timothy, I find their comments defy logic, do my best to avoid reading them, they must assimilate well here.

Timothy | 30 January 2017 - 13:35:19

Rorii, I agree 100%. I know several Thai here that have been educated outside of Thailand. They are more critical of the corruption, which is the root of all Thailand's problems, than most of my expat friends. I come from a major city in N. America. There were many Thai's living there. The Thai friends I had back home were very outspoken about the problems here. I can guarantee you they wo...

Rorii | 30 January 2017 - 07:00:21

ematt, referring to thais living in other countries, the fact is, they don\'t complain, simply because they have nothing to complain about, after living in these countries they usully reflect on how badly thailand is run. They know where they are better off.

Rorii | 29 January 2017 - 17:30:14

Jor12/joe12. or whoever you woke to as today, more belittling comments, to satisfy your egotistical attitude, definitely someone who never believes, or accepts, other peoples opposing comments, must be a grand thing, to wake up each day, knowing you are "right." By the way, I don't actually claim any "claim to fame" I leave that to egotists, like yourself, I don't need ...

Kurt | 29 January 2017 - 16:06:52

Eagle, I don't know the meaning of ...FYI Kurt,..as you wrote.
Anyway your unneeded reaction showed you knew what I ment ( Prime minister). Nothing better to react?
How about writing a comment, all by yourself alone.
I know, it is a tremendous task for you, but give it a try.

Kurt | 29 January 2017 - 14:58:59

swerv: Sing your stubborn song. :-)
Ask your friend the Chief Immigration of Phuket airport what a 'resident' is.
Don't disturb us with nonsense. Sorry you are obsessed in this.
For what?
Worldwide, there is a international, cosmopolitical, juridical setting about what is a guest and what is a resident.

Or, even better as Thailand signed AEC commitments, read them about '...

Pauly44 | 29 January 2017 - 14:24:09

ematt; nonsense comment, they marvel at the lack of corruption, cleanliness, convenience, efficiency and everything else that is far superior of a developed/civilized society, Thailand is a basket case but that's half the appeal for many.
Swerv; if you reside in any country you're a resident, your defending of all things Thai is for nought as they too don't want you here..

swerv | 29 January 2017 - 12:02:35

Kurt: You are a guest...not a resident.

ematt | 29 January 2017 - 11:57:10

Imagine if a group of Thai nationals moved to, lets say, Germany, Switzerland, or the U.K. And imagine that if, after choosing freely to move there, they spent all day long posting on-line comments criticising German (or Swiss, or British) thinking, people, government, culture, laws, etc. And let's further assume that they on a daily basis lamented the failure of the "stupid, lazy" G...

Kurt | 29 January 2017 - 11:41:17

Eagle: Thank you, you actually confirm anything I wrote.
You just tried to tune it down a bit. :-)

Another nice article for you to read in BP ( 28/1) is: Phuket officials accused by former thai Senator of extorting foreign workers on Phuket.
And Eagle; Don't forget to read the more than 30 comments, don't hesitate to react on them. Enjoy!

I am sure after reading readers's stro...

Jor12 | 29 January 2017 - 03:45:31

Rorii...Point out what is nonsensical in my comment. Called no-one names (this time). Self appointed expert? Common sense really. I have either lived, worked, served in, or visited the countries I mentioned. They vastly differ to my culture, but have the greatest respect for them as fellow human beings as well as their beliefs and the way they want to do things. As such it does not give me the rig...

Jome | 28 January 2017 - 17:17:58

Bye,I am out of PN comments now. This is getting too dump. But I know now where the term "Stupid Farrang" comes from.It comes from people who have lived a short time in Singapore and therefor know all of Asia and have the mission to convert and colonize again.

swerv | 28 January 2017 - 16:09:55

Eagle: More like Dumb and Dumber

Jome | 28 January 2017 - 13:25:41

Well said,eagle and Jor12

Rorii | 28 January 2017 - 13:17:57

Jor12, more nonsensical comments, name calling but no addition to a sensible debate. Now we see you as the self appointed expert on cultures, how egotistical are you.

Jome, you seem to insult thais by not beliving many also want change, perhaps it you read thai newspaper, instaed of only PN, you would be able to hold a more intelligent debate.

As the saying goes, if you are not part og the ...

Kurt | 28 January 2017 - 12:14:59

Yes Jome: We all do not forget we live in Asia. We know were we live as being resident ( not a guest!)
It go to far if we compare Thailand with other Asian or middle east countries.
Anyway, even if I keep it simple to Japan, Hongkong and Singapore to compare ( I have been living/ working there), some readers here will jump/tilt. Hahahaha.

Just stick to Phuket only, ok?
--No functional Phuk...

Jome | 27 January 2017 - 21:31:29

I guess you all dont realize where you actually are.Reminder: YOU ARE IN ASIA.You cant change it.If you dont like it go home and stop insulting the locals.

Jor12 | 27 January 2017 - 21:11:01

Rorii...and who might you (and others) be to try and dictate what Thailand should do. Judging by your ridiculous comments, it's no wonder no-one listens. You're a typical neo colonist who hasn't got a clue about cultures and civilisations. You are guest here. Would you say the same if you lived in Malaysia, Iran, China or Saudi Arabia? Move elsewhere if you don't like it.

Rorii | 27 January 2017 - 18:01:02

Jome, perhaps if people, like kurt, were allowed to, and given the chance, then positive changes could take place, as it seems the Thais seem to have an inability to make these changes, you could argue the point but hey we see daily they simply can't.

malczx7r | 27 January 2017 - 17:09:32

Jogi

Well said sir, we as farangs are powerless, the Thais would never listen to a "stupid" farang!

jogi | 27 January 2017 - 15:12:25

@ Jome Your comment @ Kurt I got a real problem with that. in my opinion, all a person like him can do is commenting(you call it complaining) and have a very small hope it will change anything. if he, like me, would have the power to stop this problems by get guilty drivers lock't up, take there driverlicense and hand out havy fine's by court (not spotfine's without receipt "team...
