At 6pm yesterday, Vichit police were called to investigate a suspicious suitcase which had been left on a bench in Sriphuwanart Park since the morning.

Police called the EOD unit who arrived when a large number of people were still exercising in the area.

The EOD unit advised police to evacuate the nearby area and to get all people to switch off their mobile phones.

The EOD unit, wearing full protective gear, approached the suitcase and carefully opened it. Once opened, officers were relieved to find that the suitcase contained only clothing.

Police are currently trying to find the owner of the suitcase.

Police are currently on a 24-hour bomb threat alert for areas such as Central Festival following the bomb blast on Koh Samui on Friday (April 10).
