Spaniard crowned as mountain King

TRAIL RUN: David Escolar Ballesteros from Spain took the main men’s 15 kilometre titles at last Sunday’s King of the Mountain with a time of 1:20:13, while Pemerin Aurama took the women’s title in the same distance category with a time of 1:43:02. Both walked away with B5,000 prize money.

In the men’s 15km event the three podium placed finishers were Ballesteros, Mikael Niva, and Songkrod Jeiaranaisin.

In the women’s event Pemerin was followed by Waleeporn Kongchana in 2nd and Supawadee Sae-Ong in 3rd.

Meanwhile in the 8km race Matapan Yossatiantanakul made his way to the finish line 1st in the men’s race in a time of 0:54:56, while the 1st woman to reach the line was Tassanee Prabtuk, in 1:22:09.

The successful second King of the Mountain event was opened by Virat Patee, Director of Sports Authority of Thailand, Phuket Office and saw a total of 610 attendees compete in either the 4km fun run or 8km and 15km trail run along the steep and slippery muddy slopes, and beautiful natural waterfalls of Khao Phra Theao national park.

All participating runners went back home with not only the souvenir of an amazing trail but also a commemorative medal of the event.

The Phuket News and Live89.5 were proud media sponsors of this event.
