Anusit, who also goes by the name “Thawesak”, aged 28, was arrested last night at his ex-girlfriend's apartment behind Surakul Stadium in Phuket Town, following a dramatic gunpoint hold up at the Kasikorn bank on Wednesday.
Anusit admitted all the charges against him. He is also believed to be responsible for stealing B690,400 from a Kasikorn Bank branch on Chao Fah Rd, Phuket, in January 2012.
Anusit said he chose the Kasikorn bank on Thepkrassatri because it was the only bank that did not have a security guard.
“Every bank should have a security guard, because then robbers will not be able to take money,” he said.
As for the gun he used to hold staff at gunpoint, he said, “I am not a bad man, I have never shot anyone before and I would not have shot her (the staff member he pointed the gun at).”
He also said he was only wanting B200,000 to pay off his debt, but bank staff gave him far more than he was expecting.
After he fled the scene, Anusit said he dropped B2.5 million in a clothes heap at his wife's house, opposite the Shell gas station on Thepkrassatri Rd, and hid a gun under the dressing table. This money was recovered by police yesterday.
He then spent the remaining B200,000 to pay off debts, buy some clothes and gold, and other items.
Anusit will appear in Phuket Provincial Court.
