Around 200 locals and members of the Raks Phuket Club (We Love Phuket Club) initially gathered to protest the rally, forcing the Red Shirts to move to a field near Thalang Technical College.

Police from Phuket and Region 8 were present to quell any potential violence between the two sides, but they needn’t have bothered.

Despite the Red Shirt rally scheduled to begin at 3pm, and several prominent figures due to attend, less than a hundred supporters turned out. More notably, their leaders were not among them.

After police assisted in negotiations between the rival groups, the Red Shirts took down their stage and banners and left without incident.
