But for every corrupt or unproductive official that gives Phuket and Thailand a bad rap, there’s at least one more honest and productive civil servant out there too, even if they get less if any recognition or attention in the news.

Some departments/offices on the island clearly have more “sweet apples” than others, and it’s time we give them some more spotlight and kudos, with your help and experience, of course.

And so, to wrap up 2014 on a positive note, the latest Phuket News Poll asks readers to vote for the local government agency, office or department that they feel most deserves recognition for honest, productive and hard work this year.

We’ve provided 10 options that we feel are most relevant to readers.

These include the offices for Immigration, the Navy/marine departments, Army, Police – tourist and domestic – Land Transport Office, Land Department, Damrongtham (omsbudman), Customs/postal offices, as well as local administration offices.

Votes should be based on positive experiences/impressions you’ve had in Phuket this year, and we’d love to hear from you in the comments section too. The poll will close in two weeks, on Friday, January, 2015.

Cast your vote now by clicking here.
