The Briton became a wanted man after the Phuket Tourist Police raided a house which was believed to be the office of a call centre racket on Pang Muang Sai Kor Rd in Patong, on Friday afternoon (February 3).
The local raid is part of a nationwide investigation that has already seen the closure of another call centre in Bangkok.
It is reported that call centre staff were allegedly posing as investment brokers in phone calls to victims, with police estimating that more than B20 million had been conned out of the victims to date.
They invited victims overseas to invest money through their company, convincing them the operation was kosher by referring inquiries to a non-related website abroad.
During the raid on the building in Patong last Friday, police had to break down the door of a room on the building's third floor after the suspects inside refused to respond to police demands to open it.
Two Filipinos, Aubry Pengson and Sarabeth Servito, both 31, were found inside the room, which was equipped with laptop computers and phones.
Another member of the gang, Henry King Lee, 28, also a Filipino national, was found on the fifth floor, allegedly talking with a victim on the phone.
One computer, five laptops, a bank book, an ATM card, and eight mobile phones were seized from the building.
The three admitted that they had been working for Barret without work permits, and were sent to Kathu Police Station for further investigation.
Barret remains at large.
