Robin Klymow will soon be leaving Phuket International Academy Day School.

MacKinnon takes over from the highly-regarded Klymow, who has been Head of School at PIADS for the past two years. Mr Klymow has decided not to renew his contract, owing to family reasons, and this week said he wished his replacement every success in taking up the reins “at one of the finest schools I’ve had the privilege to work at’’.

Lister W. Hannah, Chairman of the PIADS Management Board, distinguished educator and IB expert, and former headmaster of the prestigious Geelong Grammar School, said on May 15, “While we will be sad to bid farewell to Robin, we are very fortunate to be able to announce the appointment of Dennis MacKinnon as Head of School.

Mr Klymow, who will continue as Head of School until July, said he was gratified to see the school’s many accomplishments in the last couple of years.

“In a short space of time,  PIADS’ enrollment has doubled and we have brought on a roster of world-class teachers from around the globe.

“On the curriculum side, we have on our way to becoming a three-programme IB school, and we recently had our IB PYP authorisation visit.  We are in our second year as an Apple school with laptops and iPads.

We have also fully integrated with the greater Thanyapura campus, giving the students unparalleled access to Olympic-class facilities and coaches.

“With a new team joining in August 2012, I feel proud knowing that the school will build on its strong foundation.  Dennis MacKinnon is a most experienced international educator with an extensive Head of School record.

“I have found working at the school and Thanyapura a rewarding experience and I have been fortunate to have been part of a forward-thinking school.

"I want to express my gratitude for an enriching professional association during my employment with PIADS.”
