So far contracts have been signed for 18 units, says sales manager Edmundo Smellini, and another eight have been reserved.

The apartments, set in the hills to the east of Karon Beach, range in size from one-bedroom 116-square-metre apartments to six-bedroom penthouses covering 674 sqm. Prices range from B11.5 million up to B60 million. Construction of all units is scheduled to be completed by December this year.

The apartments are set up as a condominium, with a Thai company to hold the 51 per cent required by Thai law.

Less than a kilometre from the sea, The View is high enough in the hills for all the apartments to have wide sea views.

“Our architects have also drawn inspiration from nature to produce a simple yet stunning building form that is modeled on the shape and mass of ocean waves.” Mr Smellini said this week.

“The cleverly arranged tiers of low-rise units and blocks represent the graceful curve of a wave and its continual evolution from base to crest.

Architectural style is modern tropical contemporary with strong and deliberate emphasis on maximising the view, whilst at the same time protecting personal privacy.”

Common facilities include a wellness center with spa, a gym and sauna, as well as a restaurant and two swimming pools.

The contractors are DCM, who have also been involved in Kata Rocks and Mandala Condominiums at Bangtao.
