The woman, Thitirat Polai, registered as being from Phuket, was found in her room in a house in Kok Makham community, off Phrabaramee Rd in Patong, at about 7pm.

In the room, police found a T-shirt labelled ‘Miley Bay’, which they believe is the name of a bar where she worked.

Hospital records showed that she already had a history of heart problems and TB. A neighbour told officers that she had been coughing “very hard” for a long time. When there was silence for two days and Ms Thitirat had not been seen, the neighbour asked the landlord to open her room. They found her dead.

Relatives have been contacted.
