The two men were working as freelance hosts on the island’s main nightlife strip, earning commission from various bars that they would take customers to.

Patong Police Chief Col Anotai Jindamanee told The Phuket News today (May 14), “The two men began fighting on Bangla Rd at about 9:49pm when one of them, Pakorn Pongseeda, 32, pulled out a knife and stabbed the other, Anuchet Chanwijit, 42.”

Mr Anuchet was seriously injured and Kusoldharm Foundation rescue workers arrived to take him to Patong Hospital where he died two hours later.

“Mr Pakorn was arrested and taken into custody. More details will follow as the investigation progresses,” Col Anotai said.

"I bet you were one of the few not aware what to expect when going there first time.Same as unaware as about many other things here," will you EVER make any sense, it seems you ability to think, sanely, is deteriorating at a rapid rate, surely you must have "friends" to help you. This is one of your silliest comments, it makes NO logical sense, except to yourself.

"not all are aware of Soi Bangla's reputation" I bet you were one of the few not aware what to expect when going there first time.Same as unaware as about many other things here.

"Burning down premises" Does this only happen in Soi Bangla?
"Knife and gun fights"Does this only happen in Soi Bangla?
"Knives, guns, drugs" Only in Soi Bangla? But it is ok if you sit only home with your defending puppy dog as there are all those [immoral]dangers lurking allover Phuket .

... prefers to ignore that Bangla Rd is a location with burning down premises ( cost lives). Knife and gun fights ( cost lives). Sitting as teen at home with a smart phone is different from experience the real possible dangerous happenings at Bangla Rd. There are knives, guns, drugs, and shameless touts who not hesitate to invite families with children to his 'shows behind close doors'.

"Being that square the question arises in what...," oh dear, how foolish, it's not only "teens" that frequent soi Bangla, but family groups, with young kids.. yes, you will say parents should know better, but not all are aware of soi Bangla's reputation..

"There should be at both sides sign..that the street is not mend for young and innocent people" LOL!Being that square the question arises in what century you live? What is there to see on Bangla Road, except for the shows behind closed doors? Any idea what teens are watching on their smart phones today? The moralizer at it's best again ! Welcome to the dark ages.

For understanding what Bangla Road really is, there should be at both sides a sign ( like you see with movies on tv) a warning, that the street is not mend for young and innocent people. It is a prostitution area. Warn tourists for possible dangerous touts.

Have to disagree with the "bar host" moniker...these are often peddlers of the most seedy and degrading entertainment available in Phuket. These are the same obnoxious and inconsiderate jerks that have no problems peddling ping pong shows or sex shows to tourists, even if they happen to be with their families and often with unsuspecting wives and children, including young girls. Patheti...

Host: a person who receives or entertains other people as guests.

These were not hosts but rather pong pong touts , the people who bring newbies to ping pong shows and gogos, where they get ripped off by the touts "special menu" where a beer is 1000 plus.

"Anyway, who wants to walk on Bangla Rd.strip" You should ask that the thousands of people walking that road daily. Many of them out for a fun night. But someone whose only pleasure arises from writing weird comments can't understand that.

Let's put it plain, the 2 thai men were touts. A forbidden 'profession' by thai laws. But with RTP 'appreciation' ignored/allowed at Bangla Road. More details will never published by RTP. Just the RTP understatement, ...freelance hosts.. say it all. Touts, who appreciate RTP not to see them working. Anyway, who wants to walk at Bangla Rd 'strip'. For what?
