According to Dr Amporn Benjaponpitak, Director-General of the Department of Mental Health, the number of patients with mental health issues has risen over the past three years. For example, the number of people suffering from depression in Thailand climbed from 30,247 in 2019 to 33,891 in 2021, which aligns with the increasing cases reported around the world, reports NNT (National News Bureau of Thailand).

The director-general emphasized that the Ministry of Public Health recognizes the importance of tackling this issue by taking proactive measures in developing a system to identify patients and people with possible mental illness. Wards are being established in hospitals nationwide to facilitate specialized treatment, while antipsychotics and other medications will be added to Thailand’s National List of Essential Medicines.

The ministry is also expanding courses to train more personnel, while proactively working with other agencies to address mental health cases in local communities, academic institutions and other areas.

The director-general also urged the public to be mindful of family members and close friends so they can provide early support as soon as possible. She further underlined the importance of family support in alleviating illnesses and allowing patients to return to their normal lives.

Scandinaivan nations have already proved legalization of drugs solves all of the criminal and most of the accidental death problems. 'War on Drugs' was US pres Reagan's excuse to prop up guns and allowance of assorted excess military gear into the civil police forces- a bonanza for the manufacturers and which US youth are now most dying from gun violence.

Kurt | 29 September 2022 - 19:50:26

DEK, who is saying/believing that the war on drugs can be won? And drugs in my country is not the topic here. Although they fight it hard.

Kurt | 29 September 2022 - 19:36:30

To answer DeK's 2nd reaction, ( 28th, 18:23), I was answering on comment of Nasa12. It is not to DeK to suggest what I coment or not. Specially as he never write comments, just critize others. Ok, DeK can go now back in his loft, until his next 'urge'.

DeKaaskopp | 29 September 2022 - 13:09:57

@Kurt So all this you witnessed by yourself on your trip to the golden triangle.Wow ! And of course there are no drugs in your home country because of all the well trained fine police over there, yes? If you believe that the war on drugs or the production of drugs could be won here or anywhere else in the world you probably believe in Santa Claus too !

Kurt | 28 September 2022 - 19:38:12

As usual DeK presumes, sell it 'for sure'. I have been in the Golden Triangle. All materials to build drugs production factories are brought there by roads and paths. Later drugs are brought through same paths and regular roads and transported all over Thailand. A 3000 well trained ranger troops are able to make dying out that industry if there is a political will. Dek can't comprehen...

DeKaaskopp | 28 September 2022 - 18:23:10

And Kurt, why don't you just stick to the benefits described in the article ? The benefits may apply to you too.

DeKaaskopp | 28 September 2022 - 18:18:46

@Kurt How can generals and troops destroy the " produktion locations"if the drugs are mostly produced on Myanmar's territory ? And blocking a few roads ? Jeez,I am sure you have never been near the golden triangle, as you obviously have no idea about the structure and the size of that terrain.

Kurt | 28 September 2022 - 13:57:45

... is not any longer valid by destroying produktion location and block roads for drugs transport southward into rest of Thailand.

Kurt | 28 September 2022 - 13:53:50

@Nasa12, I don't know or Thailand is drugs wise opening up. Thailand is decennia 'open', produce drugs, The Golden Triangular business is decennia long flourishing. Only possible when 'protected' by high level Officialdom. Otherwise it would not exist for a long time any more. Send 10 honest of the 1700+ generals + 3000 troops there to make the definition 'Triangle' is ...

Nasa12 | 28 September 2022 - 10:29:26

Well need that after this country open for more and more drugs.
