A total of 265 Russians and “6 foreign citizens” boarded Aeroflot Fight SU275 bound for Moscow at 11:04am, reported the Phuket Consulate-General of the Russian Federation.

As is now tradition, the passengers were seen off at the departure terminal by airport staff, immigration police and health officials, holding cards spelling out the message “See you again” in Russian language.

In marking the departure of more Russian nationals flying home on July 16, the Phuket Consulate-General of the Russian Federation noted that since the beginning of April, more than 1,500 people had flown out of Phuket on specially organised flights to various regions of Russia.

The total number of specially arranged repatriation flights carried out from Thailand, according to the Russian Embassy in Bangkok, at that time was given as 42.

In total, more than 9,000 Russian nationals have been flown home during the COVID-19 crisis, the embassy noted.

The present 'flying reality' is not matching with all shown flight schedules. Before you know you have booked and paid a flight, and hear shortly after that: " sorry. your flight is cancelled, we put you on waiting list and here is a flight voucher'. This happens world wide, drama's. Don't fly now, good for your health, good for your wallet, and peace of mind.

@captainjack69 there are scheduled flights out of BKK on BA/AF/KL Emirates and Qatar Airways which will be coming in relatively empty tickets are available on line I have friends who have left for EU via DOH in last week - Aeroflot is charters

Suvarnabhumi's website reports quite a lot of actual international arrivals and departures, including Aeroflots service to Moscow.

So I guess it must be difficult to get on these flights. Probably you book and get rescheduled without warning, making it impossible to arrange connections.

Certainly you'd have to stay in BKK to get one, but still, no one is 'stranded' here anymo...

CaptainJack69, normal foreigners still not allowed to fly in. These repatriation flights are probably done by arriving empty foreign planes. There is still no normal in/out Thailand passenger flights traffic. ( as far I am informed by airlines)

The scheduled flights are exactly that - however they do not fly - same as flights to China - if you look at actual flights landed in Phuket no international flights currently except one to Penang. bangkok still has Europe and ME flights and odd ones to Manila

Like a lot of airlines Aeroflot have regular scheduled flights advertised out of Phuket. Can anyone explain why these 'special' flights are still needed? Are the scheduled flights not actually happening? Are people trying to book flights and having problems? Should we not be trying to book scheduled flights? Are the special flights cheaper? What gives?
