Oasis ed. Phuket will celebrate the official re-opening of The Book Cafe with the opening of "Brothers - A Revolutionary Song” – the first of many planned exhibitions.
This exciting new series of oil paintings have been created by local artist Chaianan Bumrungchoo, as a personal reflection on Thai politics – past, present and future.
Starting at 7pm on March 22, guests will receive a free glass of wine on arrival as live music fills the air.
Chaianan, nicknamed Joy, is an artist who trained at Por Chang College in Bangkok and has participated in many exhibitions in Phuket in the past few years. Lately he has focused primarily on sculptures but when he has time, loves to paint also – but painting from the heart and not necessarily from financial incentive.
This new series of oil paintings is greatly influenced by the recent political activity in Thailand, reflecting Chaianan’s thoughts regarding the past, present and future of Thailand. Chaianan is also a very popular teacher for Oasis ed. Phuket, with his students particularly enjoying his quiet, welcomeing and gentle manner of teaching and approach to life.
The exhibition will continue for approximately one month, until late April 2014. For more information please contact Kez at email@example.com or call 084 946 2171.
Upcoming classes – art and music
Percussion class for kids; March 22: 1:30-2:30pm
The Book Cafe, Soi Suanwat, Rawai.
Kids love making noise! So don’t tell them they can’t as they might actually be learning something while banging about in the cool, new workshop!
Percussion is a solid base for learning music, provides kids with a practical understanding of beat, rhythm and timing.
Even if your child doesn't yet have a drum, we have a range of instruments available to share during the workshop. We do encourage kids to have their own instrument to learn with in-class and practise on at home.
The course fee is B320 per child or with the “Bring a Friend Discount”, pay only B450 for two kids. Please notify Kez if your child will be attending, so as we are sure to have enough drums and cookies!
Kids Craft – Nature Mobiles: March 22; 2:30-4:30pm
La Taverna, Boat Lagoon, Phuket
Something different in a world of plastic bling, this course will take kids back to the simplicity of life, a bit of craft and nature coming together. Take a pile of specially selected shells, seed pods, feathers, sticks, rocks, beach glass, whatever and carefully, thoughtfully construct your personal mobile. Something to admire, a special place for memorabilia or perhaps a ward to keep away bats and boogie monsters! Up to the individual. Workshop Fee: B580 per child or B950 for two kids.
Art Jam, March 25 1-4pm

Perfect for those who don't have the tools or space to set up their own studio, we get it all sorted for you, too easy. Just drop by, pick up a brush and BAM, there's a new painting for your wall!
Session Fee:B 450, which includes access to an easel, acrylic paints, brushes and your own canvas to take home! Plus a cookie or two.
