Officers at the checkpoint spotted Suriyon Pongshychom 18, from Nakhon Pathom, approaching. When he realised he was coming up to a checkpoint he tried to turn around and drive away.
Police chased and stopped him. They found the pistol, loaded with five bullets, tucked into the front of his trousers.
“It belongs to my friend Aow. I don’t know if it is registered or not,” Suriyon told police. He was arrested on charges of illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition, and carrying a firearm in a public place without a permit. He was taken to the police station for further questioning.
