Police Captain Urumporn Koondejsumrit, inspector with the Tourist Police, said Mohammed Samir, aged 28, and Hanna Zareen Shaid, 26, visited Ton Sai waterfall at about 2pm yesterday. Around 5pm they called their taxi driver to say they had lost their way, then their phone disconnected.
Deputy Phuket PoliceCommander Colonel Pirayut Karajadi and his team searched the waterfall area around 11am this morning to no avail, and will resume their search at 4pm this afternoon.
The tourists are staying at the Banyan Tree Phuket hotel in Laguna.
