Phuket police hunt for hit and run minivan driver

PHUKET: Police are looking for the driver of a minivan who had a collision with a motorcycle last night (April 7) killing the driver, a man from Nakorn Sri Thamarat.

At 9:20pm, Thalang police were called to the scene of an accident involving a minivan and motorcycle on Sri Soonthon Rd.

Police arrived at the scene with Kusolharm rescue workers to find a wrecked Honda Click in a ditch. Nearby was the body of man with severe head and facial injuries.

A bronze Toyota minivan with the wording Wilaiwan Limpanit on the back was about 80-100 metres away.

The minivan had damage to its front and the windscreen was broken.

The van driver had fled the scene by the time police had arrived.

Police revealed that the victim was named Pornsit Rattanaburi, 23, from Nakorn Sri Thammarat.

Police questioned some people at the scene but they said they had come out of their homes after hearing a loud crash and had not witnessed the accident.

Police took the minivan to Thalang police station and are now looking the driver.

The body of Mr Limpanit was taken to Thalang Hospital.
