PHUKET: Phuket police catch locals with 400 meth pills

PHUKET: A man and his girlfriend were arrested for selling illegal drugs to tourists in Patong, after undercover police caught them with more than 400 pills at a hotel near the beach.

At 1am today (September 4) Lt Col Suthichai Teinpo and Narcotics officers arrested a drug user, Sonti Makhuntote, 19, with one pill of ya bah and charged him with possession of an illegal drug. Sonti told police he got the drug from a woman who worked in the bar of a hotel near the beach.

Undercover Narcotics police seized 20 pills from the dealer, Yoljira Sonlaon, 24, who confessed to police she was helping her boyfriend sell drugs for some extra cash.

Her confession helped police with the arrest of her boyfriend, Somchai Ngamchalew, 29, and seized 474 pills of ya bah from him.

Police took both drug dealers to Kathu police station where they were later charged with possession of a Category 1 drug with intent to sell.
