Police identified the man as 29-year-old Phuket native Sermsak Malasri.

Phuket City Police were called to the scene, on Thepkrasattri Rd northbound before the Nueng Yan Yon tyre shop in Rassada, at 6:30am.

Parked by the side of the road was a red Mazda car registered in Songkhla with heavy damage to its rear-right bumper. The force of the impact had blown out the car’s rear right tyre.

A wrecked Kawazaki motorbike was on the road 20 metres away, and the body of Mr Sermsak dressed in sportswear lay nearby.

Kusoldharm rescue workers transported his body to Vachira Phuket Hospital.

“Witness told us that Mr Sermsak was driving from Phuket Town at high speed,” said Capt Udom Petcharat of Phuket City Police Station.

“When he arrived at the scene of the accident, where there is a slight carve, his motorbike collided with the back of the red Mazda car parked by the side of the road.

“His body flew 20m. Mr Sermsak was not wearing a helmet. He died at the scene,” Capt Udom said.

Capt Udom added that officers will be checking CCTV footage from the area to confirm whether or not any other caused or contributed to the accident.

Wow, of course high speed, that is what we drive. Allowed or not allowed.
No helmet? I not need it.
No eyes on the road ahead of you?
No, I trust others have to take in consideration that I violate speed limits and they have to make sure not to park were it is illegal to give me free speeding way.

It is all so logic, yes?
Let's hope the car is not owned by a foreigner.
Because than they would say; If you didn't park there, the accident wouldn't happen.
If the car is owned by a thai person, you will not hear anymore of this accident.

Dear Phuket News, the car in the picture is a Mazda 2, which is a hatch-back not a sedan.

And not that it matters in this country, but it is parked on a solid white line, which is illegal (not that anyone here cares or even knows).
