Governor Intusut announced that the tri-monthly meetings – which were for all intents and purposes cancelled during the latter part of the previous Governor Tri Augkaradacha’s tenure – are back on.
Monday wasn’t to be a chance for the consuls to air their grievances and report their complaints and concerns however, it was more of a formal and official introduction to the new governor.
Dirk Naumann, the honorary consul of Germany was there and said, “It was more of a welcome to the Governor where we had to submit our CVs.”
He added, “The Governor was quite adamant that he didn’t feel confident speaking in English so he would be speaking only in Thai during the meetings.” Gov Maitree’s comments would then be translated to English for the honorary consuls, and vice versa.
Despite it being just a welcome, Anurak Tansiriroj, Czech Republic Honorary Consul told the governor that many of the concerns regarding tuk-tuks, pollution and scams had still to be resolved.
Governor Maitree’s first proper tri-monthly meeting will be held either in January or February, with the exact date yet to be confirmed.
