Phuket: 'Fingering' film slammed for tarnishing reputation of Thai lesbians

Jointly produced by Queer Movie Production Club (QMPC) and StudioFun, the two-and-a-half-minute teaser starts with a girl trying to put her fingers into her tomboy partner’s nether regions during a moment of passion.

“Don’t move. I’ll do it myself,” said actress Sunanta Dewa, an online celebrity who has over 500,000 Facebook followers.

Fingering, which is being advertised as a romantic film, portrays the lives of a lesbian couple facing complications in their love life when the tomboy characters breaks her fingers. The film attempts to discuss how important sex is to a relationship.

A heated debate quickly broke out among Thai netizens, with many deeming the sexual scenes in the trailer inappropriate and potentially damaging to the reputation of the lesbian community.

“What does this movie want to convey?” asked ploy swip.

“What a film! Have only horny stuff,” said Malaki Depp.

The video clip, which was uploaded on Clubqueer’s official YouTube channel on Jan. 20, has garnered over 600,000 views, 3,200 likes and 2,000 dislikes. Those who clicked “like,” are insisting viewers should not prejudge the movie by its trailer.

“This is just a trailer,” said Mrlbear hihi, whose comment is among the top two on the trailer’s YouTube page.

“I think this movie has a lesson for us, which is to use heart, not only fingers in a relationship. How is it different from other romance films when men and women have sex? Don’t be too narrow-minded.”
