A representative of the Phuket Regional Blood Centre explained that the centre needs more than 2,000 units of blood a month (about 946 litres).
Right now there is a shortage, particularly of O-negative blood, following road accidents over the New Year holiday.
Mobile blood donation points will be set up until the end of the month at various parts of the island to replenish stocks. The times and locations will be as follows:
January 3 and 4, 12:00-19:00, near SCB Bank in Tesco Lotus on the bypass road.
January 8, 13:00-16:00, near the Coconut Grove room at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa.
January 9, 13:00-16:00, Patong Hospital.
January 10, 10:00-15:00, OrBorJor Hospital.
January 11, 13:00-16:00, JW Marriot Phuket Resort & Spa.
January 16, 13:00-16:00, Friendship Beach Resort, Wiset Rd.
January 17, 10:00-15:00, British International School.
January 18, 13:00-16:00, Mercure Phuket Deevana Hotel, Patong.
January 25, 10:00-16:00, Office Building, Phuket International Airport.
