Tsongraks, 32, managed to elude police at the courthouse while shackled and wearing the distinct prison garb. According to police, an accomplice, Narongreut or 'Tor' Kongkoom, 22, also of Kalai Moo 6, was waiting for him on a blue Phang-nga-registered Honda Sonic motorbike when he emerged, then drove him away.

Narongreut parked the motorbike by the roadside in Baan Tak Daed of Phang-nga Meuang district, and together went on foot into a rubber plantation, then mounted another motorbike and went to the hut in Kalai Moo 6 where police found them.

A search of the premises turned up a long-barrel shotgun.
