Officials pull down 'indecent' Bangkok billboard of chubby Thai star seeking husband

BANGKOK: Attention all the single ladies pushing 40 who can't seem to find the right man using conventional channels – friends, agencies, personals, dating sites and Facebook – perhaps consider announcing your human needs on a billboard!

At least that's what one semi-famous, chubby Thai actress allegedly did along a busy Bangkok thoroughfare recently, which though has yet to yield the actress a suitor, has become the talk of the town.

A provocative photo of “Pui” Aranya was plastered on a huge billboard earlier in March in the Thai capital's Lad Prao area. The advertisement bore a message in Thai that read: “40 and still fresh. Pui Aranya announces [that she is] looking for a husband. Let me get it once before I die”, followed by a message in English that read “Want you”, as well as a phone number.

When they caught wind of it, city officials and police were quick to have the billboard torn down, citing a breach of indecency, media and advertising laws, which could carry jail time of up to two years and/or a B40,000 fine.

Police have summonsed the advertising agency responsible for the billboard. At time of press, Pui had declined to give an interview to local media about the billboard confirming her intents.

If the woman is that desperate, we hope she doesn't get jailed but gets what she really wants. Good luck, Pui!
