CAD Director-General Woradet Hanprasert said that Thai budget airline Nok Air would resume flights from
Don Muang on March 6.
Operations at the airport were suspended on October 25 when its runways were flooded.
The airport lost B200-300 million in revenues because of the flooding, Airport General Manager Group Captain
Kanputt Mungklasiri said.
Gp Capt Kanputt said the airport – whether operating or not – has costs of around B70 million per month.
After the flood receded, restoration work was begun, Mr Woradet said.
AoT will restore the power system and begin maintenance work on the eastern runway before the reopening, he said.
Mr Woradet said the department is confident that the airlines that operated at Don Muang before the floods forced them to relocate temporarily at Suvarnabhumi Airport would resume services at Don Muang.
Apart from Nok Air, the airlines include Orient Thai Airlines and a variety of charter services.
