apore Airlines took over seven weekly flights from its subsidiary Silk Air, which is operating 16 flights a week. The moves means SQ can use a bigger aircraft to increase capacity in response to passenger demand.

Also from 28 October, China Airlines increased its five-weekly flights between Taipei and Yangon to daily. Dragonair will launch a four weekly service from Hong Kong, 9 January 2013, using an Airbus A321 aircraft.

Previously, travellers had to fly to Bangkok or Singapore to connect with airlines serving Yangon.
