The girl, named as Haeun Park, 11, was on a day trip to Koh Racha with her father Hee Bok Park, 43, and mother Kim Young Joo, 40, when the incident took place. The family were due to return home from Phuket on Oct 28.

Maj Col Thada Sodarak an investigator from Chalong Police Station said that at about 3:30pm on Sunday Miss Haeun was playing in the sea at Patok Bay, Koh Racha when a strong wave pulled her out. Her father tried to help her but was unsuccessful.

When Miss Haeun was finally pulled unconscious from the water, rescue workers who had gone to the area from Chalong Pier gave her CPR but the girl died while being transported to the mainland.

Miss Haeun’s body was taken to Vachira Hospital.

Again, completely avoidable.
Yesterday the wind was sometimes very strong, specially around that Racha island.
That thai boat crew and thai tour guide allow a 11 year old foreign girl to go alone into that yesterday sea condition is criminal.
Follow up: No charges against thai 'professional' boat crew and tour guide, it was just a foreigner.
Next case.

No one qualified to help on Koh Racha? Disgraceful if so. Even I could give CPR.All resort islands should have someone. Could well save a life
