Kadee Abes, 44, and seven friends were on their way back to their hotel by taxi from Bangla Rd when Mr Abes had difficulty breathing. The driver, Tinnakor Jingjit, promptly drove to Patong hospital.

Attempts to revive him failed and he was declared dead at 1:28 am.

His body was due to be flown back to Iraq on the same flight as the team.

More than 500 wrestlers representing 23 countries took part in the competition, which ended yesterday (June 16) at the main gym in Saphan Hin.
