Hotel and IUCN staff restore Phuket mangroves for CSR

Staff from four hotels under the Marriott International brand in Phuket recently got together in Thap Pla Village of Phang Nga province to plant at least 2,700 mangrove pods as part of their year-long CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) project.

The four hotels under who took part in this initiative include JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa; Renaissance Phuket Resort & Spa; JW Marriott Khao Lak Resort and Spa; and the upcoming Phuket Marriott Resort and Spa, Nai Yang Beach. 

Forming a team of more than 250 associates, the volunteer staff did their part to make our little corner of paradise a little greener, seeing through 2,700 mangrove pods planted, including 300 young white bean trees to add to the approximately 57,280 square kilometres of mangroves.

Leading the initiative was Ms Kanokwan Homcha-aim, a representative from IUCN (International Union for Conversation of Nature), who affirmed that the CSR initiative will be taking place on every quarter of the year and by the end of 2016 they plan to plant at least 10,000 more mangrove pods throughout Phuket.
